Rethinking Philanthropy

The community of Ithaca has engaged in a “community read” to help raise visibility around diversity, inclusion, and justice. This month’s blog post offers perspective on the initiative’s impact from one of our members.

The new year started off on a strong note for the NY Funders Alliance as the Board of Directors hired Corinne Ribble as our new Executive Director, who began in her role on January 30^th.

Happy New Year from the NY Funders Alliance! Our network is as important now as it ever was as we head into what many see as uncertain times.

Buffalo has a shared future, where racial equity will create prosperity and opportunity for EVERYONE in our region, and local leaders are committed to creating a region that is more equitable for all.

December is here which means it is time to renew your NY Funders Alliance membership for the upcoming year! Every single member contributes to the strength of our network and we value your ongoing commitment to the NY Funders Alliance.

Both urban and rural communities in New York State are contending with mounting challenges- the opioid crisis, poverty, unemployment, and educational attainment, to name a few. Philanthropy is uniquely positioned to reform the practices of failing systems and strengthen communities. As a result, funders often take the lead on developing sustainable solutions.

This month’s blog post will focus on two ideas that are top of mind this time of year – being open to change and being grateful.
