NY Funders Alliance’s membership stretches across all regions in New York, representing a range of grantmaking organizations – giving you a vast, thriving peer network to tap into. Trustees, executive leadership, and staff at all levels have a safe space to share ideas, challenges, and best practices.

Members further expand and deepen their effective philanthropy practice and peer networks through grantmaker-led projects and learning collaboratives. Each of these subgroups provides opportunities for members to come together to learn, explore, test ideas, and build practices around a specific topic or project.  Examples include:

This group brings together CEOs of community foundations across New York State for quarterly peer networking calls and access to a statewide listserv. These forums offer space for leaders to share their work, discuss national and regional issues, and learn from one another in a trusted peer community. Participation is open to both members and nonmembers as a service to the field.

This group is for CEOs and Executive Directors of grantmaking organizations across New York State. Through regular peer calls, participants connect with colleagues in similar leadership roles to explore sector trends, share challenges and opportunities, and engage in collective learning on key issues impacting their organizations and the philanthropic field.

This group convenes the senior-most finance and administrative leaders from NY Funders Alliance member organizations. Quarterly calls provide a space for Chief Financial Officers, Directors of Finance or Administration, and others who oversee finance, accounting, audits, operations, administration, or human resources to exchange ideas, discuss emerging challenges, and share best practices.

This group is a network of peers from grantmaking organizations across New York State who share similar responsibilities in grants management and program oversight. The Peer Community meets quarterly to discuss current challenges, exchange ideas, and connect with colleagues in the field. If you manage grants platforms, oversee application or reporting processes, draft agreements, or are involved in program development and grantee relationships, this group is perfect for you!

This working group brings together staff from community foundations who are engaged in or exploring public policy and advocacy work. Through quarterly meetings, participants build relationships, share best practices, and exchange ideas related to statewide, regional, and local policy strategies. Whether you’re new to this work or deeply experienced, this group provides an inclusive, supportive space to learn from peers, develop policy goals, and identify opportunities for collaboration across the state.

A new working group whose goal is to strengthen communities in Western New York and Monroe County by increasing the capacity of the organizations that serve those areas. Learn more about the group here

Early childhood funders across Western New York have joined forces to form Liftoff. Liftoff works with existing community organizations and networks to ensure that, by the time children reach kindergarten, they are prepared physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively to reach their fullest potential.

A network of philanthropic organizations and individual funders who are active in food system work.  CFF is directed by staff at North Star Fund and is led by a steering committee comprised of grantmakers from thirteen foundations.  CFF facilitates roundtable discussions, funder briefings, site visits, and social gatherings to foster information-sharing and networking among funders.
