DAY ONE: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH
Pre-Conference Session (11:30am – 2:30pm)
All About Albany: A Look at the Legislative Landscape and a Capitol Tour Join us for a pre-conference session that will pull back the curtain on our capital city. Marissa Martin, the Advocacy Institute’s Executive Director will lead a session on the current legislative landscape in Albany. We will discuss the impact of the 2018 elections and what advocates and insiders observed during this first session. After the presentation, session attendees will head out on a tour of the Capitol Building led by former NYS Assemblyman from the 104th District, Jack McEneny. The pre-conference session is generously sponsored by Health Foundation for Western and Central New York. Keynote Address and Formal Dinner (5:30pm – 7:30pm)
This year’s conference will kick off with a Keynote Address by Eric Liu, CEO of Citizen University and Director of the Aspen Institute’s Citizenship and American Identity Program. Mr. Liu will explore how we, as individuals, grantmakers, corporations, and communities can reinvigorate the meaning and spirit of citizenship in America. The Keynote Address is generously sponsored by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation. Please RSVP during registration.
Dessert Reception (7:30pm – 9:00pm)
After the completion of the Keynote Dinner, finish your evening with a dessert reception for funders offering time to reflect with your colleagues about the Keynote Address.

In her plenary presentation, Kristen Cambell, Executive Director of PACE, will provide insights into the national landscape of civic engagement funding, and explore ways the New York philanthropic community can make investments in civic engagement and create spaces for people to come together around complex issues.
