1. Just how aggravating do grant seeking organizations find your grantmaking process? In a recent blog post, Vu Lee provides one way for funders to answer this question. He has created an interactive questionnaire and checklist for grantmakers, that he has comically labeled the Funding Logistics Aggravation, Incomprehensibility, and Laughability (FLAIL) Index. 2. While a federal lawsuit unfolds, NYS Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has agreed not to enforce certain provisions of a new state ethics law passed requiring charitable organizations giving money to lobbying campaigns to disclose far more of their donors. Read the Full Story Here.
3. A now iconic photo of three-year-old Syrian boy, Aylan Kurdi, washed up dead on a Turkish beach appeared in media outlets across the world in September 2015. Now, a new study finds that the photo had a greater impact on fundraising efforts for Syrian refugees than hundreds of thousands of deaths. Many find the photo deeply disturbing and emotionally triggering, but the visual undoubtedly had a profound impact — not only on fundraising which increased 100-fold. Read the Full Story Here.
