A Grantmaker’s Guide to Reading Financial Documents (Webinar)
June 5, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
As a funder, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the unique way in which nonprofits present their financial statements. Although most individuals have a general understanding of accounting, it’s important to note that most of what we learn is often geared towards for-profit companies, whereas the way in which nonprofits present their financial statements is a bit unique.
In this webinar we aim to provide basic information on what each of the major nonprofit financial statements are as well as a general overview of the content and importance of IRS Form 990 and how both, along with some critical ratios can be used to comprehend the financial health of a nonprofit organization.
Webinar key objectives:
- gain a general understanding of nonprofit terminology,
- learn what to look for within each of the 4 major financial statements,
- identify and evaluate the critical pages of IRS Form 990,
- be able to calculate and interpret key financial ratios
